Foreigner announce 30th anniversary tour
27th March, 2007
30 years is a long time for any band in the business.
And 80s Arena rock balladers, Foreigner, are making the most of it in spite of significant lulls in their group history.
They have announced a UK tour for November to follow the release of a new album in the summer.
Founding member Mick Jones has been veteran from ’60s and ’70s British rock. A sessionist he went on to work with Gary Wright in Spooky Tooth and was also in Leslie West Band. It wasn’t until the late 70s that Foreigner reached its peak thrilling fans with of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop.
They even captured the world’s attention reaching as far as New York City to the farthest reaches of South Africa.
The UK tour playing all their hits from Cold As Ice to Hot Blooded, Urgent to Jukebox Hero, Waiting For A Girl Like You to the chart topper I Want To Know What Love is.
These led to them being hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world racking up scores of smash hits, multi-platinum albums, and sold out concert tours.
Foreigner are currently writing and recording a new CD slated for release in mid 2007.
Jones enthuses, “I had no idea at the beginning what Foreigner would become. It’s amazing. Back when I started the band, I was at a crossroads in my life, whether I was going to carry on in music or get a real job. So thirty years later, I think I made the right decision and, needless to say, it’s gone way beyond my wildest dreams”!
Foreigner play Manchester Apollo on Friday, November 16.
Tickets on sale Friday March 30 and are £29.50.
