Salim-Suleiman’s missing credits from LUCK

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

While Salim-Suleiman’s soundtrack of the Soham Shah-directed Luck has scored fabulous reviews for hit tracks like Jee Le and Khuda Ya Veh, people were surprised that the background score of Luck has been credited to the well-known Amar Mohile.
After all, Salim-Suleiman have always scored the background music of all the films for which they have composed the main soundtrack.
Luck happens to be the first film for which they have not scored the background and there were unconfirmed reports that the composer duo were not pleased with the situation.
However, Salim Merchant clarified, “We were tied up with a number of assignments and couldn’t find the time to do the background. It was unfortunate that we had to let go especially given that we had done Soham’s Kaal earlier.”
Says Soham, “Amar Mohile’s background music is the highlight of the film. Amar is one of the behind-the-scenes heroes of Luck. I’m happy with my decision to use Amar.”
Luck releases worldwide on Friday 24th July by Studio 18.

In fact, Shruti landed herself this multi-starrer thanks to a suggestion by Imran Khan to director Soham Shah.
Confirms Imran, “Shruti and I have known each other since we were 10 or 12. We’re friends and get on very well. Soham was keen to cast a new girl and after he gave me a description of what he was looking for, I suggested Shruti. She had the attitude, style and body language that was needed of the character. She was game and flew down from Chennai for an audition. Soham loved her screen test and confirmed her.”
Imran isn’t sparing in his praise for his good friend. “While my favourite song in LUCK is Khuda Ya Veh, Shruti’s rendition of Aazma Luck is fantastic! It’s proper rock!”

In the film, she romanticises teen sensation, Imran Khan!
However, Luck isn’t all about romance, for she has done some dare devil stunts evident from the promos.
“We’ve crossed all boundaries that might have never existed while filming action films,” she said and in the process, Shruti got herself bruises of which she’s immensely proud!
When asked if her legendary father, Kamal Haasan dropped by on the sets, the new Bollywood lady said: “I wouldn’t be able to act in front of him so I told him to wait and watch the final product,” she smiled.
These days, apart from her debut film, Shruti’s also busy composing music for the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster, A Wednesday in Tamil and Telugu, which stars Kamal Haasan in the lead!
She exclaims: “You can imagine how nervous I am, as both these films will release in a gap of a few days. Composing music was a different experience altogether and a challenging one if I may add, as I was working with dad!”
