Boy Meets Girl: Martin Freeman

LOTS and lots of interviews recently, many embargoed until later in 2009.
While the time is now right to use other chats from earlier in the year.
Including one with The Office star Martin Freeman.
I met up with him in February at ITV Network Centre in London’s Grays Inn Road.
With the interview appearing in last Friday’s MEN here.
Martin plays DIY worker Danny in Boy Meets Girl, co-starring with Rachael Stirling as journalist Veronica.
Except it’s a bit more complicated than that.
Parts of the interview that couldn’t be squeezed into the feature included Martin’s thoughts on conspiracy theorist Danny.
“I think there are a lot of people like that who are probably quite clever but who just have no focus,” Martin told me.
“A lot of people have a flag and that’s going to cover everything.
“Whether it’s about the Moon landings or Kennedy or whatever.
“To be honest, I don’t think Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy either.
“That’s not insane to think that.
“And I’ve heard quite eloquent people speak about the Moon landings as well.
“And my first reaction when I heard about the Twin Towers was, ‘Was it an inside job?’”
The day after I interviewed Martin, I returned to ITV HQ to talk to Angela Griffin about – among other things – her role as Fiona in Boy Meets Girl.
More from Waterloo Road star Angela in a week or two.
Danny is in love with Fiona – not that he’s been able to tell her.
As Martin explained: “Danny knows about the invasion of Nicaragua but he wouldn’t know how to ask a girl out.”
