Brilliculous

I admit it. I’m a fan of the new Santa (even before he’s plugged in).
He straddles the line between the brilliant and the ridiculous. I think that’s a very Mancunian thing.

SANTA HISTORY –I have commisioned the four we have had over the last twenty three years and all have excited strong comment. The big one on the Town Hall clock was panned as disgusting and not a proper sight for children!Lots of nods and winks which took us by surprise.
I have been in the Square a lot this week and I don’t recall any of them being as photographed as this one.It is also the most talked about–it forces you to have an opinion. We are also getting calls from all over the country.I have to be careful what I say but I can understand why the greeks and romans –enough!!people can talk to me privateley about these thoughts.
In the end its all for kids–in the Karney tribe we have an eight and a five year old.Thank god both of them like him.I will be interested in the response of the kids tonight when we switch it on.In the end also only Manchester would do something like this–we are already thinking about additional Santa companions for next year. We are still working on our great surprise for Market St.!!
