Oooh matron – Westminster edition

3rd April, 2009

From my emails. (John Stormont is the parliamentary assistant to Andrew Gwynne MP.)

It turns out Mr Gwynne has lent his support to St Elisabeths Church in Reddish, which are launching an appeal to ’sponsor a pipe’.
The Church is hoping to raise £140,000 to restore its 1883 William Hill Pipe Organ.
I don’t know whether to be disappointed or relieved.

  1. I’ve used the ruse myself in an effort to get hard-pressed colleagues to open emails. The most successful included:
‘You and Me. How’s About it?”
    and
‘Nude Charity Calendar – your name has been mentioned’.

  2. Well it certainly got your attention and publicity for a good cause :)
